Black Leopard Clayware's pottery classes are open to adults 18 and older with an interest in discovering the magic of clay.

The studio features top-of-the-line potter's wheels, slabroller, a collection of over 300 underglazes and glazes, and a comprehensive library of 140 books for in-studio inspiration. Each student is important at Black Leopard Clayware and our courses ensure that everyone gets the special attention they deserve. With class sizes kept to a maximum of 4 students, you'll achieve rapid progress in a friendly environment designed for you to proceed at a comfortable pace.

We welcome newcomers, artists who've been away from clay for a while, and seasoned artists wanting to refine their skills. Our classes in handbuilding and throwing on the electric wheel include regular demos, attention to surface treatments, decorating with glazes and underglazes, and of course individual attention. Add a ton of encouragement and you're on your way!

Black Leopard Clayware offers 4-week Ongoing Courses. Open Lab is offered every Thursday for students to practice what they've learned during class. Our Weekend Workshop program has been replaced with Private Tutoring which offers a tailor-made, one-on-one approach for any student wanting to learn a new technique or carry out a particular project.

All courses are by pre-registration; please contact the studio at least one week prior to a course's start date to reserve your spot.

POTTERY CLASSES FOR ADULTS:

Note: All classes are by pre-registration only. Check our Online Calendar to find your preferred start date, then contact us by email to get your registration package.

Our courses include a generous supply of studio clay, use of major equipment and glazes, and firing in our kilns.

Ongoing Courses: Our 4-week courses in Handbuilding and Throwing on the Potters' Wheel offer plenty of individual attention. Our small class size permits each student to achieve substantial progress in a short period of time. Multi-level classes begin at the first of each month.$220/person

Private Tutoring: One-on-one instruction especially designed for individuals who want extra attention. Tutoring sessions are tailored to each student's interests and skill level. Start when you want, learn what you want! 4 hour minimum.$60/hour

Clay-Speak: Terms, Tips & Techniques for the New Clay Artist: A spiral-bound full-color guide for new and returning artists. Easy to read, this is a great addition to your reference library. $15.00. You can order the book or electronic version directly from the publisher, or purchase direct from the studio.

FIRING SERVICES: Firing fees for small sizes/quantities are charged by the cubic inch and by firing temperature. Larger quantities and item sizes are assessed by the shelf- or kiln-load. Pre-heating and other firing programs also available. 4-day minimum turnaround (shorter turnaround available, too). All firings are done in our electric kilns, oxidation only.
